## Before

The centre had no website to send parents to. It teaches kindergarten to Primary 6 at four branches across Kuching, its parents read English or Chinese, and a typical business website would feel wrong for young children.

## Four decisions

1. **The whole page is the children's notebook.** The cover sticks on with tape, each scroll turns a page, and hand-drawn illustrations sit on lined paper, like their own exercise books.
2. **Every page in English and 简体中文.** Parents read one or the other, so nothing is in only one language. Privacy notices are also in BM.
3. **WhatsApp only, no forms.** Enquiries go straight to a chat with the centre, and there is no backend to maintain or pay for.
4. **Every WhatsApp button says where it was pressed.** Each one fills in its own first line, in the page's language, so the owner can tell which page and which language a parent came from, with no analytics or cookies.

## After

Launching Nov 2026. Enquiries a month and trial classes booked will be added after launch.

## What we built

- Parents open a green notebook that turns a page with every scroll step, on desktop and phone
- Index tabs along the top jump to any section, the way a child flips to a tab in their file
- Hand-drawn illustrations sit on lined paper, like the children's own exercise books
- Every page reads in English and 简体中文; privacy notices also in BM
- Four branches, each with its own map that loads only when a parent taps "Show the map", so nothing reaches Google before that
- Enquiries go straight to WhatsApp, no forms or backend to maintain
- Teachers, timetable and results pages stay hidden until the centre sends their details, then appear with their own tabs
- The page is prerendered and readable with JavaScript off; the page-turn engine is an extra layer

## How it's made

The page-turn effect, two languages, and a tiny static site with no running costs beyond hosting.

### The page turn

Every scroll step turns one page. The tabs along the top jump straight to any section.

### On a phone

On a phone the notebook shows one page at a time and still turns like paper. The WhatsApp button stays in reach in the corner.

### English and 简体中文

The same Classes spread in both languages. Drag the handle to switch: titles, handwriting and stamps all change script, and the subject names stay in their own language.
